Palm Coast, FL – Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) led a bipartisan a letter today to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Brock Long asking that FEMA expeditiously approve reimbursement for debris removal in the wake of Hurricane Irma.14 members of the Florida delegation joined DeSantis in this effort. The letter can be read here. DeSantis issued the following statement:
"Communities that are entitled to reimbursement from FEMA for storm-related expenses should not have to wait forever and a day to receive their reimbursements. Last year, Hurricane Matthew had significant impacts that triggered eligibility for reimbursement for debris removal, but this has been a complicated process that has strained local resources and many communities are still awaiting payment. We can't allow bureaucratic red tape to hinder assistance for Irma-affected communities."
