Washington, DC – Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) has submitted an amicus brief in support of the lawsuit filed by Sen. Ron Johnson (WI) that challenges the Office of Personnel Management–s unlawful ruling granting special tax preferred treatment to members of Congress and their staff. DeSantis is joined by 25 additional Members of Congress.
"Members of Congress lack credibility in standing up against executive overreach if we are not willing to do so when the overreach benefits Congress,”? DeSantis said. "Members of Congress should live under the exact terms of the laws that they pass. Overruling the plain meaning of the law to grant special relief to members of Congress puts the ruling class before the American people."
DeSantis has taken the lead on this issue from the beginning and previously introduced the James Madison Congressional Accountability Act, which forced Congress to live under the terms of the 2010 healthcare law.
