Washington, DC ’ Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) today praised Sen. David Vitter–s (LA) continued efforts to end unlawful the ObamaCare subsidies for Congress. Vitter filed his “No Washington Exemption from ObamaCare Act”? amendment to the Shaheen-Portman Energy Efficiency bill pending in the Senate.
DeSantis has taken the lead on this issue from the beginning and introduced the House companion to Vitter–s legislation, the James Madison Congressional Accountability Act, in August 2013.
“The American people are tired of members of Congress not living under the terms of the laws that they pass,”? DeSantis said. “Senators should be forced to go on record about the legality of ObamaCare subsidies for members of Congress. Senator Vitter has continued to be an outspoken opponent of these illicit subsidies and I applaud his efforts to make Congress abide by the laws that they pass.”?
DeSantis has also put his support behind legal challenges to the Office of Personnel Management–s unlawful ruling and recently submitted an amicus brief in support of the lawsuit filed by Sen. Ron Johnson (WI).
