Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) and Dr. Edison Jackson, President of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, met in Washington, DC today during a gathering for members of Congress and leaders of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
DeSantis and Jackson, along with other HBCU Presidents, lunched at the Library of Congress and later toured the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
“It was an honor to spend this afternoon with Dr. Jackson and other distinguished leaders of HBCUs from Florida and across the nation.” DeSantis said. “It was great to have Bethune-Cookman University represented today on Capitol Hill. President Trump today issued a thoughtful Executive Order that will establish a White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. I believe that Congress must continue to support the important place HBCUs have in our higher education system.”
