Washington, DC – Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06), Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, chaired a hearing today to question the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on its existing policy towards service dogs for veterans with post-traumatic stress. Watch his opening statement here.

"Service dogs are not intended to, nor do they, ‘cure’ PTS, but they provide a safe, non-addictive, tool for veterans to live normal, functioning, productive lives and, they could provide a safe complement to existing treatments for PTS. The urgency of the veteran suicide rate demands that we explore this option.”
