Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) issued the following statement after his provisions providing for transparency and exposing who has used the congressional hush fund were included in the just-passed Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 Reform Act:
“The American people deserve to know who has taken advantage of this taxpayer-subsidized hush fund. Today’s bill includes not only my proposed transparency provisions, but rightfully requires that members of Congress be held personally accountable for any future sexual harassment settlements. We must stand up for victims of sexual harassment, and these very necessary changes to the Congressional Accountability Act will foster a culture of respect on Capitol Hill. The Senate should send this legislation to President Trump’s desk as quickly as possible.”
DeSantis spoke on the House floor earlier today in support of this legislation – watch here. DeSantis introduced his bipartisan Congressional Accountability and Hush Fund Elimination Act in November 2017.
