St. Augustine, FL ’ Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) announced today that Madison Buckels, a student at Seabreeze High School, won the 2015 Congressional Art Competition with her ink wash artwork titled “Pink in Ink.”? Buckels will receive complimentary airfare for herself and a guest to attend an unveiling ceremony at the United States Capitol, where her artwork will be displayed for one year.

“Every year I look forward to the Congressional Art Competition and seeing the creative artwork that our students produce,”? DeSantis said. “I would like to extend a well-deserved congratulations to Madison for winning this year's competition. Her artwork is a wonderful representation of our district and I look forward to seeing it hang in the Capitol!”?

Entries were posted on DeSantis– Facebook page for one week and nearly 3,000 votes were cast by constituents to determine the finalists. The ten submissions with the most “likes”? were then presented to Joe Campanellie, a nationally accredited art judge; Kim Carney, Flagler Beach City Commissioner; and Rachel Lynn Thompson, an award winning artist. The judges determined a winner during a reception held at the Ocean Art Gallery in Flagler Beach.
