Washington, DC – Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) today announced that his office will begin accepting submissions for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition starting on Monday, February 29. Students may submit their original artwork for entrance into the competition through Friday, March 25.
“The Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent and creativity of our young artists,” DeSantis said. “Each spring, I look forward to seeing the creative and unique submissions from students all across the district. I encourage all eligible students to enter their artwork!”
Once submitted, entries will be posted on DeSantis’ official Facebook page from Monday, March 28 until Friday, April 1. Constituents will be encouraged to vote on their favorite artwork and the 10 submissions with the most “likes” will be presented to a panel of local judges on Sunday, April 10 who will then determine a winner.
The winning piece of artwork will be displayed at the United States Capitol for one year. The second and third place winners will be displayed in DeSantis’ district offices. Transportation will be provided for the first place winner and a guest to fly to Washington, D.C. to see their art displayed during an unveiling ceremony in June.
