St. Augustine, FL –  Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) today sent a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, Jacob Lew, concerning reports that the United States Treasury is considering permitting offshore financial institutions to conduct foreign currency trades in U.S. dollars in support of business with Iran. The letter can be read here.

“Facilitating Iran’s access to global markets is not required under the nuclear agreement; this is a gratuitous concession,” DeSantis said. “It appears that the more Iran misbehaves, the more willing the Obama Administration is to concede to the demands of the Iranian regime. I look forward to Secretary Lew’s prompt response and believe that the Obama Administration must immediately reconsider this short-sighted policy change that will undermine antiterrorism sanctions and be a boon to Tehran.”

20 Members of Congress joined DeSantis in signing this letter: Ralph Abraham, M.D. (LA-05), Dave Brat (VA-07), Michael Burgess (TX-26), Kevin Cramer (ND), Dr. John Fleming (LA-04), Bob Gibbs (OH-07), Paul Gosar (AZ-04), Richard Hudson (NC-08), Steve King (IA-04), Doug Lamborn (CO-05), Leonard Lance (NJ-07), Martha McSally (AZ-02), Pete Olson (TX-22), Bill Posey (FL-08), Matt Salmon (AZ-05), Adrian Smith (NE-03), Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05), Mark Walker (NC-06), Ted Yoho (FL-03), Lee Zeldin (NY-01).
