Washington, DC – Rep. DeSantis released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s FY2014 Budget Proposal which was required by law to be submitted by February 4, 2013. The President’s budget proposes $3.77 trillion in spending for FY2014, adds $744 billion to the deficit for FY2014, and does not offer a plan to ever balance the budget.
“With our national debt predicted to exceed $25 trillion in the next 10 years, now is the time to enact crucial reforms to the way our government spends taxpayer money,” Rep. DeSantis said. “Instead, the President has chosen to ignore our nation’s spending crisis in favor of raising taxes on hardworking American families by $1.1 trillion. President Obama has once again missed an opportunity to show the American people that he is serious about addressing our national debt and getting our economy back on track. Tax increases and a budget that never balances are not fiscally responsible.”
